The Chevrolet Suburban has been a part of American life for the last 89 years, first debuting in 1935 as the Chevrolet Suburban Carryall. Over the decades, the design has changed many times to fit the styles and technology of the day, but Chevrolet's dedication to quality has remained the same. The 2024 Chevy Suburban is part of the 13th generation of Chevy’s first full-sized SUV. Instead of growing stale, this staple of the Sport Utility class does the reverse, growing fresher and more inspired with every generation, every redesign, and even every year.
In 2023, the Suburban was awarded ‘Best Large SUV for Families’ by U.S. News—the third year in a row it has received the honor. The 2024 Suburban upholds the legacy set down back in 1935, continuing to be an SUV that can work hard, play hard, and protect hard. New technology has helped the Suburban become more efficient while not compromising on the horsepower and torque needed to get things done. Infotainment and safety features bring a twentieth-century classic into a new millennium, helping the Suburban shine for a new generation of drivers.
Starting at
The Suburban has three engine options for 2024. The first—standard on the LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims—is a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 that pumps out a powerful 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Dynamic fuel management optimizes performance and fuel efficiency for an EPA-estimated 20 MPG on the highway. A 6.2L EcoTech3 V8 with dynamic fuel management is the second option, which also gets an estimated 20 MPG on the highway. With its 460 lb-ft of torque and 420 hp, this engine brings a boost of brawn to the High Country trim, where it comes standard. It is also available on the RST, Z71, and Premier trims. Finally, the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine is an available option on the LS, LT, RST, Premier, and High Country trims. Like the two EcoTec engines, it has a 10-speed automatic transmission. Powered by 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, the TurboDiesel is a solid choice for towing trailers and other loads. This final option gets an EPA-estimated 27 MPG on the highway.
Technology is also powerful. The Suburban offers a 12-inch driver information center, so everything you need to know as you’re driving down the road is there at your fingertips. A 10.2-inch center infotainment touchscreen has available Google built-in and an option for Wi-Fi, putting an endless variety of music, podcasts, and news programs at your command. Your passengers can choose their media with the available rear-seat media system, which gives rear-seat passengers screens set into the back of the front seats that can be hooked to headsets, smartphones, and portable DVD players.
The elongated body and clean lines of the Suburban give it the commanding appearance of a road warrior ready to face any obstacles in its path. Touches of chrome detailing with the bold grille and rectangular headlamps add sophistication to the sturdiness of this SUV. Its back end emphasizes utility but adds a chrome bar with the Chevy bowtie inset as the perfect touch of decoration to a simple but elegant exterior.
The interior is rich, with details like stitching on the seats and available wood insets that highlight that the Suburban is a vehicle not only built for performance but also for pleasure. Whether you choose the jet black interior or the two-tone jet black and mocha, both color schemes are an ideal match for the nine exterior colors. The 2024 Chevy Suburban is available in six trims. The LS starts at $59,200 and has a premium smooth ride suspension and chrome roof rack side rails. [a] The LT boasts a Bose nin-speaker audio system and a hands-free power liftgate, which can be programmed and projects the Chevy logo. It’s available for an MSRP of $64,700. [a] If you’d like a little more style for the street, the RST has a trim-specific Jet-black interior with victory red stitching, a black grille with Black Ice accents, and RST badging and emblems. The 22-inch aluminum wheels complete the look in high-gloss black. If that sounds like the Suburban of your dreams, it can be yours starting at $67,300. [a]
Four-corner air ride adaptive suspension and tubular black assist steps come with the Z71 at an MSRP of $69,300. [a] Its 20-inch wheels come with all-terrain tires for your off-roading needs, while the red recovery hooks and skid plate make an impression wherever you end up roaming. The Premier trim gets a significant sound system upgrade, coming standard with a Bose Centerpoint surround sound system that will let you hear every note of your favorite song through its 10 speakers. It also comes with a power sliding console and magnetic ride control. The MSRP for the Premier trim is $72,600. [a] The High Country is at the top of the list for luxury trims. Coming in at an MSRP of $79,400, the High Country leaves its mark with its signature grille, sill plates, and interior stitching. [a] All-season tires come on 22-inch wheels ready to hit the road in any weather.
8,300 lbs of towing capacity allows the Suburban to pull midsized trailers, boats, and more with ease. Its advanced trailering system manages multiple camera views through an in-vehicle app. You’ll be able to see the rear trailer, inside, transparent trailer, and picture-in-picture views for maximum towing visibility. Pre-departure checklists and monitoring trailer stats like tire pressure and temperature will make sure your trailer is ready for the journey to come, and many more after that.
A best-in-class 144.7 cu.ft. of maximum cargo volume gives you the space to bring everything you need for any trip, whether it’s for work or a weekend getaway, a cross-country road trip, or carpooling a whole soccer team. With available seating for up to nine passengers, there’s room for everyone. All your passengers will ride in comfort with the Suburban's generous legroom for the second and third-row seats. Front pedestrian braking detects when someone walks in front of your Suburban and will brake independently if you can’t do it quickly enough. Forward collision alert works on a similar principle, alerting the driver to a possible collision and then braking if necessary. The following distance indicator will let you know if you’re getting too close to the vehicle in front of you. The Suburban will gently nudge you back into the lane if the sensors notice you drifting and you do not correct your course with the lane keep assist and lane departure warning.
Super Cruise driver assistance technology allows you to enjoy 400,000 miles of roads across the United States and Canada hands-free. While you relax, your Suburban offers gentle corrections to stay in your lane and will deploy the brakes if necessary. A Suburban driver needs to pay attention and stay focused, but you work hard; you should get to relax and enjoy the view.
