Silverado History

Chevrolet has a longstanding history of producing high quality and reliable vehicles. Their popular pickup truck, the Chevy Silverado, is certainly no exception to this rule. In fact, the Silverado is so popular that it remains one of the top-selling pickup trucks in America to this day. So, where did this high-quality truck come from? Let's take a quick trip down memory lane, shall we?

It all started with the C/K series. The C/K series was produced between 1960 and 1999, with its debut being at the 1960 Chicago Auto Show. The C/K series was marketed for eleven years as a truck and commercial vehicle before it was redesigned and repackaged for the 1972 model year. The new design showcased a more refined exterior than that of its predecessor, with its most noticeable change being the front end. It also introduced Chevrolet's signature cross-bar grill for the first time.

The C/K series wasn't Chevrolet's first attempt at selling a pickup truck, though. That honor goes to the 1953 Advance Design series that ended production in 1959. The second generation, the C/K series mentioned before, was introduced in 1965 and ended production in 1999. In between this time period, there were a few other models, too, such as the luxury K5 Blazer S-10. However, it wasn't until 1980 when Chevrolet began to offer an extended cab (two-door) version of the Silverado. After a very successful run, which saw its popularity peak in 1982, Chevrolet decided to completely redesign the Silverado for the 1999 model year, with this new design being available as both a half-ton and three-quarter-ton truck. The engine compartment was also redesigned, allowing for greater power under the hood with improved horsepower and torque.

Between 1982 and 1992, there were few changes made to the Silverado, and only minor cosmetic updates were introduced. The square headlights that once graced its front end gave way to round units in 1990, though this change was not exclusively reserved for the Silverado as it could also be found on the GMC Sierra throughout this time period.

1992 was the year that changed everything for the Silverado. With it came a brand new, modernized exterior designed by Calty Design (an American automotive design studio). Its interior also underwent some changes, including the addition of airbags, electronic fuel injection, and automatic transmissions. This particular generation was in production until 1999 and included three different engine options: the 4.3L (260 CID) V6, the 5.7L (350 CID) V8, and a 6.2L diesel option.

After nearly 20 years, the Silverado was redesigned again for the 2007 model year. This time around, Chevrolet made the Silverado larger and more powerful than ever before with a new four-wheel independent suspension system that gave drivers a smoother ride. They also outfitted the Silverado with a removable shell to offer greater versatility to consumers as well.

2022 Silverado 1500

When it comes to the capabilities of a pickup truck, one of the most important things to look at is the engine. The 2022 Silverado 1500 will offer a variety of engines that are all designed to give you the optimum amount of power. These engines include:

• The 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine, which is now standard on the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST Double Cab, and LT Trail Boss trims.
• The 5.3L ECOTEC3 V8 engine, which is going to be standard in the RST Crew Cab trim, the LTZ, and the High Country.
• The 6.2L ECOTEC3 V8 engine, which is standard on the new ZR2.
• The Duramax Turbo Diesel 3.0 L engine is available for the Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims.

The new Silverado 1500 will also offer the option of either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, so you can choose the option that best fits your specific lifestyle needs. The Custom Max Trailering Package has been deleted and is no longer an option for this model year, but that doesn't mean you'll miss out on a great trailering vehicle. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 still has some pretty powerful towing capabilities of up to 13,300 lbs.

2022 Silverado 2500 and 3500

If you need a heavier duty truck, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD are sure to fit your needs. This year's model is an extremely powerful and capable truck, and you're going to love what it has to offer. One of the most exciting additions to the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD is the Multi-Flex Tailgate. While the Multi-Flex Tailgate has been seen in the previous 1500 model, this highly functional tailgate will now be available for all trims of the HD line.

Some other new changes to the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD are purely cosmetic, including a few color option changes as well as the addition of some new aluminum wheels and some high gloss black accents. In terms of coloring, the Oxford Brown Metallic color has been removed from the options list and replaced with a stunning Greenstone Metallic color. These changes are sure to make the heavy-duty Silverado an even more desirable pickup truck.
