There’s no denying the popularity of the Chevy Silverado. It’s a best-seller and will continue to take the market by storm so long as it keeps building on the reputation of reliability and innovation that customers demand. Before some of you potential truck shoppers scurry off to Guntersville Chevrolet, the Chevy dealer near you, to purchase the latest model year of the Silverado 1500, there are probably some lingering questions about performance, capabilities, and features you might want answered, and we can help answer them. For instance, a lot of people are interested in some standard infotainment features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (and yes, those are standard across all trim lines of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500), or what the towing and trailering capacity is like for the new model year? Well, we are here to answer your most pressing questions and give you an idea of what to expect from the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500.

Does the 2021 Silverado 1500 Have Wireless Charging?

This is a common question a lot of potential shoppers ask when looking to buy a new vehicle. Wireless charging hasn’t quite become a standard feature in as many vehicles as some people might like, and it’s usually reserved only for certain model years. In the case of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, the light-duty pickup does offer both wireless charging and wireless phone projection.

Wireless charging is available for the LTZ trim and is a standard feature for the High Country trim. The wireless charging feature should work with almost any compatible device that supports wireless charging. With the Silverado 1500, you can simply place your wireless phone on the wireless charger and wait for the infotainment display screen on the center console to display the charging icon to indicate that the phone is charging.

Does the 2021 Silverado 1500 Still Have Active/Dynamic Fuel Management?

Yes and no. It might seem confusing, but it’s all pretty simple. Having Active or Dynamic Fuel Management on this truck is going to depend on your engine choice. The 2.7-liter turbo and the 4.3-liter V6 both feature Active Fuel Management, and the 6.2-liter V8 has Dynamic Fuel Management. However, if you want a choice, the 5.3-liter V8 engine can come with either Active or Dynamic, or neither at all.

Why are there iterations of the 5.3-liter V8 powertrain (the L82 and L84) that no longer support active fuel management nor dynamic fuel management for the 2021 model year of the Chevy Silverado 1500 series?
The reason for this actually has to do with a global semiconductor chip shortage, which affected a lot of manufacturers, including automakers like General Motors. Due to the lack of availability of the semiconductors for the Active and Dynamic Fuel Management systems used in the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, the naturally aspirated 5.3-liter powertrain options may no longer feature the fuel-saving Active or Dynamic Fuel Management systems.

The upside is that the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 series still has access to Active and Dynamic Fuel Management, with the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 still being equipped with Active Fuel Management, as well as the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. If you want access to the Dynamic Fuel Management, the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 is still available with the fuel-saving technology that alternates the performance of the engine’s cylinders for optimal use of fuel. So if you want Active Fuel Management, go with the 2.7-liter or 4.3-liter powertrain options, or if you want Dynamic Fuel Management, stick with the 6.2-liter V8.

Is There a Price Difference Between the 2020 Silverado and 2021 Silverado?

The MSRP for the 2020 Silverado and 2021 Silverado has been altered. The 2020 Silverado 1500 series starts at $28,500, while the 2021 Silverado 1500 series starts at $29,300. Keep in mind that the 2021 Silverado also adds all-new standard features to its line-up, as well as improved towing, trailering, and enhanced trailering technology. Like with any model, the newer one is more expensive due to the addition of new features and the regular rising of price, but the difference is not that much for what you get with the 2021 model.

How Much Can the 2021 Silverado 1500 Tow?

Towing and trailering are hugely important facets of a light and heavy-duty pickup truck. As for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, it can tow up to 13,300 pounds when properly equipped. Configured in a Double Cab with a Standard Bed and four-wheel drive in the RST trim, the 6.2-liter V8 for the Silverado 1500 can achieve a max tow capacity of 13,300 pounds when equipped with the Max Trailering Package.

The tow ratings have also been increased for some of the other powertrains. This includes the 3.0-liter Duramax receiving a tow-rating increase to 9,500 pounds from its previous best of 9,300 pounds. 200 pounds may not seem like a lot, but it can really make a bigger difference than you might think. The 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder has also received a tow-rating upgrade of up to 9,300 pounds when equipped as a double cab with the standard box and rear-wheel drive, which is much better than the previous best of 7,100 pounds. However, the 4.3-liter engine stayed the same, with a max rating of 7,900 pounds for both the 2020 and 2021 models.

What Does the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Look Like?

A lot of people are curious as to what the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 looks like. It’s modeled after the new fourth generation overhaul, which is built on an entirely new platform. This means that the truck has more relaxed fenders above the wheels and more rounded curves throughout the body and the exterior cab. The most noticeable difference is that the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 retains the fourth generation’s aggressive new fascia with an improved grille format for better aerodynamics and airflow. The rear fascia was also redesigned for the fourth generation and further improved for the 2021 model year to accommodate the Multi-Flex Tailgate, which has improved mechanics and features, sporting six unique functions and enabling truck drivers much easier access to the cargo bed.
